The GPS Procurement Leaders Skills Framework has been developed to support current and aspiring Procurement Leaders to assess skills and to identify development needs. It provides a Government wide standard for Departments who do not have frameworks for Procurement Leaders and for those who may wish to enhance existing frameworks. It can be adopted or adapted to meet the needs of individual organisations. The Framework can be used to develop job descriptions and to support career development planning, succession planning and job redesign.
This Framework focuses on the skill requirements for Procurement Leaders who lead and manage a procurement function within a Department, Agency, Non-Departmental Public Body or other non-Ministerial Crown Body. Future versions may widen in scope and will change and develop over time to reflect emerging trends in the procurement profession, changes in Government priorities and procurement policy, and new delivery systems.
