At the heart of Transforming Government Procurement is the need for a strong, coordinated and expert body of procurement professionals. This event heralds the creation of a reformed Government Procurement Service through which procurement practitioners can establish a coordinated and cohesive function, with the necessary access to expertise for it to gain the support and recognition it needs.
Critically, this event provides you with the opportunity to help to shape the reformed GPS. Take a place at one of the decision-making tables that will define how you and your fellow procurement professionals are represented in the future.

The importance of the Government Procurement Service to the government's reform agenda is outlined in the Transforming Government Procurement report.
Mark Pedlingham, OGC's executive director responsible for the reformed GPS, will explain the proposals for the reformed GPS, and open the debate that aims to start shaping the reformed GPS, where delegates will be asked to identify what they consider to be the priorities.
The new Director of the Government Procurement Service, Kavalneer Walia, will explain the vision of the reformed GPS and detail the progress that has been made, as well as the work that is planned for the coming months.
Sally Collier, OGC's executive director for policy, standards and capability, will update delegates on the Procurement Capability Reviews that all government departments will undergo over the coming months.
Most importantly delegates will help define what the GPS should look like? The event will also start the debate to determine what special interest groups need to be set up to deliver the changes demanded by the procurement community - with members leading the direction.
