OGC manages, on behalf of its public sector customers, the corporate commercial relationship with strategically important suppliers to government and maintains intelligence on markets and suppliers. A group of Supplier Relationship Managers (SRMs) and a team of analysts manage this capability.
Markets & Suppliers Group examines markets to ensure that they have the capacity, capability and skills to deliver on governmnent contracts. We have developed knowledge and understanding of a number of strategically important markets and suppliers to government and established information on supplier strategies, existing government contracts and new bids, contract performance and issues, financial standing and resources.
It is important to emphasise that these are not preferred suppliers and will not receive any preferential treatment from the public sector.
Strategically important suppliers have been identified against the following criteria:
We maintain regular face-to-face dialogue with the senior executives of strategically important suppliers to better understand their business, resources and strategies, and to provide these companies with feedback and views from government to assist them to become more intelligent bidders and suppliers to government. OGC also maintains ongoing dialogue with government contracting authorities on supplier issues to provide a collective view across the public sector.
