Copyright of all material published by OGC, or on OGC's behalf, is owned by the Crown. Copyright protection applies to all OGC's material in any media, wherever it is accessed or available.
Please note the licence covers the copyright reproduction of the material only, we do not supply you with the material and you will need to source this for yourself.
If you would like to use OGC's material please follow the steps below to obtain the correct permission required:
1. Is the material available on the website? If yes go to step 2. If no go to step 3.
2. You may re-use material appearing on the OGC Website providing your re-use is in accordance with the waiver notice which is detailed on the page entitled "Use of content from OGC's website".
3. Is the material classified as Value Added Crown Copyright or just Crown copyright? This can be found by looking at the copyright statement included on the material. If you are unsure of the classification status of the material please contact the OGC Service Desk who will be happy to help. If Value added go to step 5, If not go to step 4.
4. If the material is not value added we classify it as "core, PSI" information for which you will require a PSI licence. This licence is free and allows you to use PSI Crown copyright material from OGC as well as other Government departments. The licence is currently administered by the Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI) on behalf of OGC and you will need to apply via their scheme by clicking on the following link: http://www.opsi.gov.uk/click-use/system/online/pLogin.asp
5. If the material is value added you should apply for a licence. To apply for a licence you will need to complete the licence application form. There may be a charge for the use of material and licence fees, if applicable, are calculated on the amount of material used and how the material is used, more information on OGC's prices is available from OGC's charging document.
6. Upon acceptance of your application, OGC will grant you a temporary licence to use the material in order to develop your product. The licence works in two stages, the first stage permits you to use the material in order to develop your product, the second stage allows you to publish your product once we have reviewed and approved your product.
7. The first stage of the licence gives you a period in which to develop your product and to provide us with a copy of the product for review together with any other relevant documentation that we request.
8. Once we have received a copy of your product, we will carry out a review of the product to ensure it meets our licence criteria and that you have used the material in accordance with our guidelines. If any amendments are required we will notify you.
9. If your product passes the review then you will be informed in writing and your licence will convert to a full licence to produce your product. If you fail the review, your licence will automatically terminate unless you comply with further instructions from us within the timescales given.
10. Upon conversion to a full licence the fees due/the royalty rate will be confirmed to you.
11. You must have successfully completed the licensing process before you publish your product.
12. If you have any other questions you may wish to consult our FAQ's or call the OGC Service Desk.
