Assessment of physical and technical environment
Purpose:
Identifies opportunities for business benefit and constraints that must be addressed before implementation. These relate to the workspace environment, the IT and technical infrastructure.
Fitness for purpose checklist:
- Is there an assessment of the match between the quantity, quality and timescales over which physical and technical resources are required and the resources actually available?
- Is there evidence of Opportunities Taken. These opportunities (arising from external influences) should have been explicitly identified and that, as a result, action should have been planned and executed leading to the delivery of benefits within the organisation?
- Is there evidence of relevant constraints considered, such as requirements to comply with existing physical/technical standards?
Notes:
- For PFI/partnership arrangements the supplier will take service responsibility for managing the physical and technical environment. It is important to note that the client cannot abdicate responsibility for major technical issues and needs to have the capability to judge/steer what is being offered, even if that means bringing in technical expertise from a third party.
