Benefits Profile

Purpose:

Used to define each benefit (and dis-benefit) and track its realisation.

Fitness for purpose checklist:

  • Are the measures realistic?
  • Are the dependencies with other benefits and projects identified?
  • Are appropriate responsibilities for realisation identified and agreed?
  • Is the benefit accruing as expected?
  • Are the business changes being made to enable the benefit?

Suggested content:

  • Description of benefit or dis-benefit
  • Dependencies (on projects, risks, other, benefits and programmes, etc)
  • When the benefit is expected to occur and over what period of time realisation will take place
  • Measure for the realisation of the benefit and how it will be carried out; the before state measurement; financial valuations (where possible)
  • Key performance indicators in the business operations that will be affected by the benefit, immediately after realisation and for the future, and current or baseline performance targets.
  • Details of changes to business operations/staffing
  • Costs associated with realisation and measurement
  • Project responsible for delivery
  • Dependencies on risks or other programmes or projects
  • Which business area and which individual is responsible for the benefit and its realisation.
