CECA XML Specification
Through the CECA XML Specification it is possible to transfer data to and from e-PIMS™ from other databases through a data transfer process that follows the XML protocol. This supports the transfer and interoperability of e-PIMS data based on e-Gif standards

Establishing standard linkages is key to the success of e-PIMS:
- The project has pioneered the use of XML schemae for cross-Departmental initiatives. This has not only involved contributing to the e-GIF work, but raising awareness among Departments themselves to encourage them to use e-GIF as well.
- The project is an active member of the Ordnance Survey early adopter group for Digital National Framework, and
- There are plans for e-PIMS to be one of the first to link with Local Government's National Land and Property Gazetteer, using the Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN).
These standards will form the basis of an exciting vision of linked land, property and occupational databases covering the whole of the public sector - defence, health, central and local Government. Eventually, a user of e-PIMS (or other linked database) will be able to overlay information from one database (for example contaminated land, brownfield sites etc.) on to another (for example, workspace occupied by civil Government employees).
