Efficiency Programme structure and workstreams

Procurement is . "getting better values from goods and services bought by government".

Productive Time is . "freeing up more time for frontline service delivery".
Example: More than £2 billion saved in the first full year of the programme

Shared Services is . "reducing running costs in HR, IT support and finance".
Example: the Royal Navy merged its two headquarters to save £10 million.

Transactional Services is . "streamlining interactions with citizens and other customers"
Example: Customers can now claim three linked benefits in one phone call - Pension Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit

Policy, funding and regulation (PFR) is . "streamlining government machinery".
Example: The NHS has reduced the numbers of 'arm's length bodies' from 38 to 26, with a further reduction to 20 planned.
