Display Energy Certificate data

Energy Efficiency on the Government Estate

Display Energy Certificates (DEC) were introduced in 2008 and are required in all public sector buildings/offices larger than 1000m2, frequently visited by the public.

DECs rate the operational energy efficiency and performance of a building with a rating from A to G - much like domestic appliances. The Operational Rating received is relative to the average energy performance for a category of building of the same type, which is set at 100.

DECs must be prominently displayed where all public visitors will be able to see them. The qualified engineer issuing the certificate will also have provided a report, which will have provided the department with suggestions for improving energy efficiency.

OGC Centre of Expertise in Sustainable Procurement has committed to publish a summary of DEC ratings for the Government Estate every six months. Spreadsheets containing this data can be found below:

These files contain a summary sheet, and a building list. Included in the building list is the DEC Certificate Reference. This reference can be used to obtain further information from the CLG / Landmark system.

The DEC data is interpreted in the Delivery Plan Updates. Click here to access the latest Delivery Plan Update (PDF, 1.2MB)
