Working Corporately - Exploiting Government Property As a Corporate Asset

This major OGC event focusing on the government estates agenda, and chaired by Mike Burt, was held at the QEII Conference Centre, London SW1, 10th July 2009. More than 360 delegates heard plenary speeches from Nigel Smith, William Jordan, Mike Burt and Trudi Elliot - Regional Director, GO West Midlands, on the main theme of collaborative working between departments and between central government and the wider public sector in order to deliver the main recommendations of the OEP property review, and to maximise the opportunities for significant estate efficiency savings and improved sustainability performance. The delegates were also presented with the main highlights of the first State of the Estate in 2008 report on efficiency and sustainability that OGC presented to Parliament on 1 June 2009. A key announcement made by Nigel Smith was the appointment of Vice Admiral Tim Laurence, Chief Executive, Defence Estate, as Government's first Head of the Property Asset Management Profession.

Details of speaking notes from each plenary and breakout session are available by request from the OGC Service Desk.
