Preparations are underway for a national conference for central and local government departments, the wider public sector and public sector suppliers that will look into the next steps in transforming sustainable procurement in the public sector.
The conference, to be hosted jointly by Defra, OGC and OGCbuying.solutions, will be held on Wednesday 19th October 2005 at the QEII Conference Centre in London and is being organised by GovNet Events. Speakers confirmed so far include, amongst others, Sir Neville Simms, Chair of the Sustainable Procurement Task Force who will chair the conference and Martin Sykes, Executive Director, Smarter Procurement leading on "Efficiency or Sustainability - We can have both".
The conference will look at current policy, best practice on sustainable public procurement as well as a number of case study sessions providing first-hand experience of sustainable procurement strategies in practice.
