Today the Office of Government Commerce launches its 2005 Awards for excellence in programme and project management across the public sector.
The Awards, known as the Delivery Awards scheme, is a joint initiative between the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) and the Cabinet Office. It is designed to promote, recognise and reward effective use of programme and project management skills in achieving the successful delivery of public sector programmes and projects.
OGC Chief Executive, John Oughton, said:
"These Awards are an opportunity to recognise the tremendous work being undertaken across the public sector by project teams in areas as diverse as Construction and IT. This year, for the first time, there will be an efficiency award, as well as awards covering programme and project management skills. I look forward to meeting the successful Teams at the Awards ceremony in London on the 11th November."
Matthew Kershaw, Project Manager for the National Orthopaedic Project, winners of a Team Award in 2004, said:
"The BIG benefit was the recognition of the team and its performance and the encouragement to learn from this project, spreading that learning to other projects."
Closing date for entries is 23rd September 2005.
