A new, updated edition of the OGC and SBS booklet 'Smaller Supplier Better Value' is now available on the OGC website.
The purpose of the booklet is to raise awareness of the value for money that small firms can offer, to explore the issues that can make it difficult for them to win public sector business, and to set out some ideas about how public sector procurers can help to lower barriers.
Since the first edition, two things have changed: pressure on public bodies to achieve efficiency in public procurement has increased and so have the demands to improve the diversity of the supplier base.
The new edition tries to show how these two aims are mutually reinforcing. It is underpinned by research commissioned by the Small Business Service, with results of the research included in the updated booklet.
