Two OGC best practice case studies for Lincolnshire County Council and Ministry of Defence

Released on 28/02/2006

Two new OGC case studies have been published for the Lincolnshire County Council Highways and the Ministry of Defence's Project Allenby/Connaught.

The case studies belong to a series that OGC Smarter Construction is producing in collaboration with other public bodies. Each one demonstrates how the Achieving Excellence in Construction principles are applied to deliver first class, whole life, value for money programmes and projects and, ultimately, better public services.

The first case study is Lincolnshire County Council: Highways - adopting a flexible approach. This was produced jointly with the Local Government Task Force (LGTF) and showcases a best practice exemplary project within local government.

It demonstrates how Lincolnshire County Council entered into a framework agreement to deliver £23.6 million of coastal access improvement works, and saved about £260k in just the first phase.

The second case study is Ministry of Defence and Defence Estates: Defence Construction in the built environment - Project Allenby/Connaught. This is a major innovative public finance initiative (PFI) project to deliver army accommodation fit for the 21st century, to time and budget.

Project Allenby/Connaught - the MoD's redevelopment project for army barracks in Aldershot and around Salisbury Plain - shows how the MoD has adopted new methods of construction to deliver the accommodation necessary for organisational change in the army, and to resolve problems arising from an outdated army estate.
