Wider consultation has begun for the development of a Routemap to Property Asset Management Excellence, and the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) is now seeking views for the document, scheduled to be launched in the autumn.
The development of the routemap was announced by the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Stephen Timms, at the Working Assets conference in London on Monday, June 26, 2006.
The Routemap to Property Asset Management Excellence will set out the central Government's framework and direction, over the next five years, to achieve savings and benefits from better use of the Civil Estate. It will focus on four key improvement areas:
The consultation paper, incorporating the draft routemap, presents the detail of the proposals, and provides specific points on which views are sought.
The consultation will run until Friday, September 15, 2006, but initial responses need to be received by Friday, August 18. Responses should be by email to routemap.consultation@ogc.gsi.gov.uk or in writing to Yvonne Hardy, OGC GRAM, Trevelyan House, 30 Great Peter Street, London SW1P 2BY.
Within this period, OGC is seeking views, especially on the clarity of the proposals, applicability, achievability and on the balance of proposals between the central Government and departments.
