The Government Procurement Card (GPC) is a proven tool for reducing the cost of low value high volume purchases of goods and services. It is also provided at no cost to users.
Government Procurement Cards are Visa branded purchasing cards used increasingly by organisations across the UK public sector to buy goods and services, from office supplies to taxi fares. More than 73,000 cards have been used to buy goods and services worth more than £1.6 billion since OGCbuying.solutions and Visa launched the framework contract in 1997. The framework is open to every organisation within the public sector.
There are no costs to the user, either for the cards themselves or in transaction fees. The framework is contract managed for you, leaving you with more time to get on with other tasks. Most suppliers are happy to accepts GPC too, as they are guaranteed payment - often much faster than via traditional paper-based procurements.
The newly published guide to saving money with the Government procurement Card provides you with everything you need to know about getting started with GPC, and includes case studies demonstrating its effectiveness at improving procurement efficiency. That means saving money!
