OGC has developed the PPM Skills Assessment Tool and Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) Assessment Tool in response to requests from a number of central government departments.
There was an identified lack of suitable tools that would enable CoEs to effectively assess the skills levels of PPM practitioners and inform learning programmes designed to increase PPM capability. These Skills Assessment Tools have been developed so that current PPM skills and experience can be quickly and easily assessed.
They consist of a single page with simple drop down menus for each role. The tools will normally take about 5-10 minutes to complete and the language is generic and easily understood by non-PPM personnel. The data gathered from this audit will be particularly valuable for Centres of Excellence (CoE) / Programme Offices / Programme Assurance Teams in helping to assess current skills. It will also support portfolio planning and training for further PPM development.
The PPM Skills assessment tool has been designed so that organisations' can adapt it to their own environments. Both tools are derived from the OGC Successful Delivery Skills Framework, the Professional Skills for Government standards, MSP and PRINCE2™.
