Collaboration

Government currently spends around £220bn on goods and services - that's about £1 in every £4 spent in total by the Exchequer. Government, both central Whitehall departments and the wider public sector, must maximise the value it achieves from this spend through a variety of approaches.

Acting collaboratively is a key driver for delivering value for money in public sector procurement. OGC's Collaborative Procurement category teams help the public sector get better value from its spend on goods and services across a wide range of categories.

Each category team has a pan-Government strategy and is dedicated to finding better deals to help the Government save money.  The Government's policy on collaborative procurement requires central Government departments and their agencies to commit to a cross government collaborative approach to the procurement of common goods and services.
