Procurement Policy and Application of EU rules

The Procurement Policy Division has the lead on the Government's policy of achieving value for money (vfm) in public procurement. We are responsible for the implementation of the EU Procurement Directives into UK law. The Directives set out the procedures to be followed by purchasers in the public and utilities sectors. Revised Regulations covering England, Wales and Northern Ireland were brought into effect on 31 January 2006. Scotland has made its own Regulations.

In this section you will find the UK Regulations, which implement the EU Directives, and material to explain application issues associated with the Regulations. This guidance has been produced for additional clarification and is intended to explore the issues, such as sustainability, within the legal and policy framework.
