Procurement - The bigger picture

With billions of pounds spent buying products and services, it is clear that getting better value for money for what we buy in the public sector will make a huge contribution to our Efficiency Programme targets and to the successful delivery of major programmes and projects.

OGC leads the drive to achieve better value for money across the public sector through a collaborative approach to markets and by encouraging public sector organisations to work together to act as a better co-ordinated and joined-up client.

Very often, organisations contemplate and undertake complex procurement projects. In the longer term, where collaboration is possible, it will provide better value and simpler procurement solutions. But as many organisations need guidance on how to deliver their existing challenges, OGC continues to provide that too.

The OGC Gateway^TM process identifies and provides assurance for each of the significant steps involved in complex procurement projects. This bigger picture helps organise complex procurement projects into a series of logical and manageable activities.
