In the short term you may not see a great deal of change as a result of the PPM Skills & Capability Initiative, because implementation will be carried out locally and may appear to be business as usual. Your organisation will continue on its own improvement path for PPM professionalism, but will benefit from cross-Government developments and increased knowledge-share between PPM Leaders and their teams.
There are no plans currently to maintain a central register of all PPM professionals across Central Government - if you want to receive communications relevant to your role as a PPM specialist or professional, please contact your local PPM Centre of Excellence (or equivalent).
OGC will produce a regular newsletter for the PPM community which will be sent to PPM Leaders or their nominated communications manager - within your organisation this may be combined into existing communications you receive.
The PPM Skills and Capability Initiative over time should result in the following benefits for you:
In addition, OGC on behalf of Government is acting as a critical friend to the Association for Project Management (APM) on its bid for Chartered Institute status and beyond. If APM's bid is successful, the PPM profession will nationally gain increasing parity with other chartered professions (such as accountants, engineers etc) and you would gain the opportunity to become a Chartered Project Professional.
