Nigel Smith, CEO, OGC and Head of GPS is working with senior partners in Cabinet Office and Heads of Profession to lead this reward agenda. He will chair a special interest group which will develop and agree the project plan, which will be completed in early May.
In order to produce a reward strategy which is endorsed by the GPS Council for implementation, GPS will need to understand the reward and remuneration landscape across all departments and in the wider marketplace. To help this, procurement professionals will be encouraged to complete a confidential, comprehensive salary survey during July 2008.
In addition, the GPS is already helping departments to create a range of entry points to attract procurement professionals into government and the development of competency and skill frameworks to support the development of staff once in post.
