Heads of Profession and senior colleagues across Whitehall are supporting the development of the reward project, led by Nigel Smith, CEO, OGC.
The project was launched last month to support the procurement profession by producing guidance for reward and career progression within government.
It will deliver a strategy that aims to tackle some of the inconsistencies across different government departments and support the recruitment and retention of high calibre professionals.
Nigel Smith invited colleagues from across Central Civil Government - both within the procurement and HR communities - to join a special interest group which will steer the project and support departments when adopting the strategy recommendations.
Nigel said: "This is a challenging piece of work where we will need to test existing barriers and protocols as much as possible - some will be immovable but many will not. If we achieve this, we can hope to produce guidance which supports the recruitment, retention, development and reward of procurement professionals across government".
The reward survey will be launched in June to anonymously record what and how government procurement professionals are currently rewarded. This will provide vital information for the strategy and guidance that will presented to HR directors as well as Heads of Profession in September.
The internally focussed survey is one part of a wider data gathering exercise which will also look externally at reward in the private and wider public sectors and help us to understand the broader picture of the numbers of people looking to join the procurement profession.
The level of response to this survey is critical to us presenting a strong case for appropriate reward and career structures for the profession, so this survey needs you!
The survey will be run by an external company and all data submitted will be completely anonymous. We will only receive trend information and grouped data so your personal information remains protected to you.
Please see our frequently asked questions which provide answers on what the project is there to do, how the survey will work, how you can get involved and what the strategy will deliver.
