BRTF Programme

The Better Regulation Task Force (BRTF) Programme

This work is concerned with lowering the barriers facing Small and Medium Sized enterprises (SMEs) wanting to access the government market.  Since June 2003, OGC has been working to meet its responsibilities of the Better Regulation Task Force (BRTF) and Small Business Council (SBC) report 'Government: Supporter and Customer?'  This report made 11 recommendations to help SMEs, and OGC was one of several departments that took on responsibility for specific recommendations.

Following a successful pilot project in the West Midlands, which ran between June 2003 and June 2004, to test the recommendations, a full evaluation was carried out and the successful projects are now being rolled out nationally through the BRTF Programme.

The four projects are:

  • Opening Up Supply Chains
  • Pre-qualification Questionnaire Project (includes current work on Accreditation Agencies)
  • National Opportunities Portal ('SRG2 Project')
  • Procurer Training (and SME Training delivered by SBS in partnership with Regional Agencies)
