Next steps

Make sure you are familiar with some of the basic principles of eAuctions:

  • eAuctions are an appropriate tool in many competitive procurements.
  • eAuctions are not about price alone.
  • The contract needs to be of a value that will attract competition.
  • eAuctions require a clear and concise statement of requirements.
  • Initial price proposals are needed.
  • Commercial sensitivities must be respected.

Questions to Ask Now

  • Do I have a new requirement / When does our contract expire?
  • Can the requirement be specified accurately?
  • Do I know the current market price?
  • Are there a number of suppliers that can satisfy the requirement?
  • Is it a buyer or a seller's market?
  • What are the margins and pricing features associated with this market?
  • Are you willing / able to change from your incumbent supplier?
